Kevin Costner’s $78 million California property for sale

Film star Kevin Costner has put his beachfront 10.25-acre Montecito property on the market.

The story goes that Kevin Coster first saw this property when he jogged past it 11 years ago and noticed a ‘For Sale’ sign out the front. He snapped up the original 17.25 acres for $37 million.

Costner later sold 7 acres to his neighbour, leaving him with the remaining 10.25 acres.

The property sits on a bluff in Carpinteria, and has sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, the Santa Barbara Mountians, and nearby islands out at sea.

With only a two-bedroom house, the main feature of the property is the landscape itself, with sprawling green lawns, cliffs, the beach, a baseball field, and horse-riding paths throughout.

Costner and his wife Christine Baumgartner scrapped plans to build a bigger house and pool on the property, and are reported as saying they are sad to be selling the extraordinarily beautiful piece of land. They spend most of their time at their home in Aspen with their three children.

The property is listed through Erik Wilde and Cathy Titus of Coldwell Banker Property Shoppe.
